So the occupant has to be be physically or mentally impaired.

I could see how this could work for those who do not have a home large enough to accommodate their relative. This definitely would address the need.

In the past the?only options in this area for one level living is buying an older rambler home as they come available. Most of these homes are less than thousand square feet on one level with a basement. The challenge is many are over thirty years old and may need remodeling to accommodate larger doorways, eliminate steps and level changes to make the home safe. Another option is buying a home in a 55+ community such as River Run in Lake Ridge Virginia?and Four Seasons in Dumfries. Also there is River Run Senior Living on Hedgeford Drive off Minnieville Rd.

Now if you do not have a lot large enough to accomodate and cannot find a home with a master bedroom on the main level, then the next step is to consider buying a home with a lot large enough to accomdate a MedCottage in the future.
